Anna Maria Island is a wonderful place and it feels like a great big community, but some people don’t realize that we have three separate cities on this 7-mile stretch of sugar-white sand beaches. Bradenton Beach is the southmost city, Holmes Beach is in the middle, and Anna Maria completes the north end of our Island.
Since we focus so much on Anna Maria and Holmes Beach (which is where I live) I thought it would be nice to do a picture tour of some features of Bradenton Beach.

Took the trolley to the north end of the Island this past weekend and went to Two Scoops–at the shopping center on the corner of Pine Avenue (which is coming along nicely) and Bay Blvd. Always fun to have the grandkids out here, enjoying the island that I love so much. Here are some pictures for you to enjoy:
No trip to the Island is ever complete without a trip to the Sandbar. The food is fantastic and the view is even better, but the best part is the post-meal walk on the beach at sunset.

I am doing a new series where I visit local places on Anna Maria Island and take video and feature them on my blog!
This week, it’s Sweet Pea’s wine shop on Anna Maria Island Enjoy the close proximity to lots of shopping and dining, next to the Holmes Beach Post Office. You can find perfect gifts, as well as Florida wine! Enjoy!
It doesn’t matter who you are and where you’re from, it’s impossible to escape the allure of a great burger and an ice cold beer–especially just after you’ve come in from the beach.
Duffy’s Tavern of Anna Maria Island was established in 1958 and has been run by the Geyer family since 1971. USA Today named it one of the countries 10 “Burger Heavens”. From the perfectly toasted buns, to the juicy burgers and iced mugs, this family knows what they’re doing.
The atmosphere here is friendly and casual, come straight from the beach with the whole family. You can sit on the screened-in porch, the outside patio, or inside where you can see a myriad of humorous and cool license plates decorate the bar.
Duffy’s Tavern is a “must” on your trip to Anna Maria Island, but beware, between the sugar-white sand beaches and their mouth watering burgers, you might just find yourself needing to relocate to Anna Maria Island faster than you can say “Mmm Mm Mm.”
Anna Maria Island has a very well known restaurant called the Sandbar and I just found some pictures of a trip my family and I made there. We walked down the beach from my house and then good food, a little pricey. $18-$25 for an entre at dinner, plus drinks. However, if you sit outside and watch the sunset, it is a great experience. The kids (and some adults) enjoyed playing in the sand before and after dinner.
